Ingredients

Peanut Butter Brownie Layer

  • cup peanut butter creamy or crunchy
  • 2 tablespoon butter melted
  • cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed, dark or light
  • 1 large egg
  • teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Chocolate Brownie Layer

  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

Peanut Butter Brownie layer

  • Preheat the oven to 350° and line an 8" x 8" baking pan with parchment paper with overhang for lifting out later, or spray with non stick cooking spray.
  • Mix all the ingredients for the Peanut Butter Brownie layer, except for the flour and baking powder, in a mixing bowl.
⅓ cup peanut butter, 2 tablespoon butter, ⅓ cup granulated sugar, ¼ cup brown sugar, 1 large egg, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • Lightly fold in the flour, just until mixed. Don't over mix! Spread the Peanut Butter brownie batter in the pan, spreading it out evenly.
½ cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder

Chocolate Brownie layer

  • Mix all the ingredients for the chocolate brownie layer in a large mixing bowl, adding in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt last.
½ cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 2 large eggs, 1½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Lightly fold the flour and cocoa until just mixed. Don't over mix, or the brownies would turn out cakey.
½ cup flour, ½ cup unsweetened cocoa, ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • Top the Peanut Butter brownie layer with the Chocolate Brownie batter, spreading it out evenly over the peanut butter layer.
  • Bake for 22 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove and allow to cool. Brownies will be soft and gooey at first, but will continue to cook after removing from oven. Cut and enjoy!

Notes

  • The easiest way to bake these brownies fit the baking pan with parchment paper with a generous overhang. This way, once you remove the pan of brownies and let them cool, you can lift them out with the paper overhang. No more digging out brownies, and every one of them will be perfectly cut.
