Ingredients

  • 4 large ears of fresh corn (silk removed)
  • 1 ½ cups water

Instructions

  • Strip the husks off the corn, and use water to wipe any silk threads off. Place the corn ears inside the Instant Pot insert and put the insert inside the Instant Pot.
4 large ears of fresh corn
  • Add the water and secure the lid. Set the valve to seal/pressure.
    1 ½ cups water
  • Set the cook time to Manual, high pressure, for 2 minutes. Or use the Steam program and set the time for 2 minutes. The Instant Pot will take 5 to 10 minutes to build up pressure, then the cook time will start counting down. When finished cooking, it will beep.
  • Wait 5 minutes for the Instant Pot to naturally depressurize. After 5 minutes turn the valve to Vent to finish depressurizing quickly. Keep away from the steam as it releases.
  • Open the lid when it unlocks and remove the ears of corn on the cob. Serve with butter immediately.

Notes

  • Ears of corn can be large, so to cook full size ears you will need a 6 quart or 8 quart Instant Pot.
  • If using a smaller Instant Pot, cut the ears of corn in half.
  • Buy the freshest corn you can find. The kernels should be rounded and not caved in or wrinkled.
  • Use a damp cloth and water to brush the husked corn to wipe away the wispy silk threads.
  • Don't cut the stalk ends off until after the cook time. Put them in the pot so the stalk ends touch the instant pot, not the top ends of the corn cob.
