Air Fryer Teriyaki Salmon

Air Fryer Teriyaki salmon is a deliciously simple meal that’s full of flavor. The air fryer creates a slightly crispy teriyaki glazed salmon that's ready in less than 20 minutes!
And just in case you don't have an air fryer, or it's too small for a larger family meal, I've included conventional oven baking instructions also!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 3 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 4 salmon steaks about 6 oz each
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Pour the soy sauce into a saucepan. Add the ground ginger, garlic powder, honey, olive oil, and rice vinegar and stir. Reduce heat to low.
½ cup soy sauce, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Make a slurry with the water and cornstarch, then whisk into the saucepan. Increase heat to medium and whisk while it thickens, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
1 teaspoon corn starch, 3 tablespoon water
  • Whether you use salmon filets or steaks, rinse and pat dry. The skin can stay on, it's easier to remove after cooking. Using a basting brush, cover the tops and sides of the salmon with the cooled teriyaki sauce.
    4 salmon steaks
  • Air Fryer Method - Place the salmon in the air fryer basket. Cook on the Fish mode (or 320 F or 160 C) for 7 minutes.
Regular Oven Method - In case you don't have an air fryer, or you need to cook more than 4 pieces of salmon, consider the oven to cook everything at once. You'll need to preheat the oven to 320 to 325 F (160 C) and bake for 7 minutes.
  • Air Fryer Method - Remove the air fryer basket after 7 minutes cook time. Brush the salmon a second time with the teriyaki sauce. Push the basket back in the air fryer and cook for an additional 3 - 4 minutes.
Regular Oven Method - Remove the sheet or pan of salmon after 7 minutes cook time. Brush the salmon a second time with the teriyaki sauce. Return the salmon back to the hot oven and cook for an additional 3 - 4 minutes.
  • Using tongs or a pancake turner, carefully remove the teriyaki glazed salmon pieces onto a serving platter. Brush lightly a third time with some teriyaki sauce and sprinkle sesame seeds on top as garnish. Serve immediately.
    1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Notes

  • Cooking frozen salmon in the air fryer will typically double the cook time.
