- 5 large peaches washed, pitted, and cut into chunks
- 3 eggs
- 1¾ cup sugar
- 1 cup half & half
- 2 tbps vodka Optional, or Peach Schnapps, keeps ice cream scoopable when frozen
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cup heavy cream
- 1 pinch salt
If using a Cuisinart or other electronic ice cream maker, set the freezer bowl in your freezer, set at 0° F overnight.
Prepare the peaches by washing, pitting, and cutting into chunks. If you don't want skin, you can peel it also.
5 large peaches
Add the eggs, sugar, half and half, vanilla extract, salt, and optional vodka or peach schnapps to a blender or food processor. PRO TIP: The vodka or peach schnapps will prevent rock hard ice cream from developing after the 'hardening' off phase and during long term storage. 3 eggs, 1¾ cup sugar, 1 cup half & half, 2 tbps vodka, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 pinch salt, 2 cup heavy cream
Add the prepared peaches to the blender and process until smooth. Add the heavy cream and process until well blended and creamy, about 1 minute.PRO TIP: If you like larger chunks of peach in your peach ice cream, reserve about 1 cup and mash it up into smaller bits, to be added after blending. Transfer the liquid ice cream base to the electric ice cream maker freezer bowl, or churning container. If adding chunky bits of peaches, stir them in now.
Turn your Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker on, with the freezer bowl secure in the base. Churn according to the Cuisinart or electronic ice cream maker manual instructions. PRO TIP: You can make this peach ice cream recipe as a 'No Churn' ice cream also. Simply pour into an aluminum foil lined loaf pan. Cover with plastic wrap then aluminum foil and set in your freezer set at 0° F for 12 hours or overnight. When the peach ice cream has reached the soft serve stage, spoon into an airtight freezer container and freeze for 2 hours or overnight. Be sure your freezer is set to 0° F.
- Set your freezer to 0℉ the night before, and freeze your Cuisinart freezer bowl at least 12 hours before use.
- Use fresh, ripe peaches for the best flavor.
- 2 tablespoons of vodka or peach schnapps will keep your hardened ice cream scoopable.
- If you don't have an ice cream maker, you can still make this recipe by freezing the mixture in a lined loaf pan and freezing overnight.
- To make this recipe vegan, you can use vegan substitutes for the heavy cream and milk.
