Ingredients

  • 3 tbs cinnamon ground
  • 3 tablespoon ginger ground
  • 1 tablespoon cardamom ground
  • teaspoon allspice ground
  • teaspoon cloves ground
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg ground
  • 1 teaspoon mace ground

Instructions

  • Measure all the spice into a bowl so you can blend them together.
3 tbs cinnamon, 3 tablespoon ginger, 1 tablespoon cardamom, 1½ teaspoon allspice, 1½ teaspoon cloves, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 teaspoon mace
  • Using a whisk, blend them together. You can taste a pinch to decide if you want to add more of any of the spices.
  • Transfer the spice blend to a air tight container, mason jar, or spice jar. Store in a cool, dark pantry location for 6 months. Check for freshness after that.

Notes

  • For a stronger gingerbread flavor, add an extra teaspoon of ground ginger.
  • Cardamon and Mace will give a aromatic, warming note to this blend.
  • If you don't have all of the spices on hand, you can substitute other spices that have similar flavors.
