Instant Pot Applesauce

- 2 lb Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 lb Honeycrisp apples peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 Cinnamon sticks whole
- ⅔ cup Turbinado sugar pure cane sugar
- 1¼ cup Water
Wash, peel, core, and chop the apples into 1" chunks.
2 lb Granny Smith apples, 2 lb Honeycrisp apples
Add the apple chunks, water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks to the Instant Pot and mix well.
2 Cinnamon sticks, 1¼ cup Water, ⅔ cup Turbinado sugar
Seal the Iid on the Instant Pot, and set the vent to seal.
Program the pressure to cook on HIGH for 8 minutes.
When program beeps that it's complete, do a quick release, taking care to not get your hand in the path of the steam.
Using an immersion blender, blend the applesauce mixture until you get the consistency you prefer.
For chunky applesauce, use a potato masher instead of the immersion blender.
Transfer the applesauce to mason jars or plastic containers. Freeze for up to 3 months.
- For a chunky applesauce, don't puree after processing in the Instant Pot.
- For unsweetened applesauce, omit the sugar.
- You can also add other spices to the applesauce, such as ginger, cloves, or allspice.
- You can substitute other types of apples for the ones in this recipe. Some good options include Fuji, Macintosh, and Gala.
