Apple and Cheese Prosciutto Wraps

Apple and cheese prosciutto wraps are a delicious and easy appetizer that is perfect as a starter, or as a complement to wine pairing with friends. Prepared in minutes, the combo of sweet, tart apples, salty prosciutto, and creamy cheese is simply irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 3 Apples Cosmic Crisp or Honeycrisp
  • 8 oz Cheese Sharp white cheddar or TJ's Unexpected cheddar
  • 8 oz Prosciutto In strips
  • ¼ cup Quince jam or honey, apple butter, mustard, etc
  • 2 oz Arugula Or, fresh basil leaves
  • 3 tablespoon Balsamic glaze

Instructions

  • Slice the apples into 8 slices per apple. Slice the cheese into 16 slices.
  • Place a slice of prosciutto on your work surface and lay a slice of apple on top, about ¼ down the length of the prosciutto strip.
    8 oz Prosciutto, 3 Apples
  • Smear a dab of the quince jam (or any other choice of spread you decide to use).
    ¼ cup Quince jam
  • Top the quince spread with a leaf of arugula or fresh sweet basil leaf.
    2 oz Arugula
  • Center a slice of the cheese on top of the arugula. You can use white cheddar, Brie, or any cheese you prefer.
    8 oz Cheese
  • Start at the prosciutto end closest to the stack. Roll into prosciutto wrapped apple slices and fasten with a tooth pick. Refrigerate until ready to transfer to a presentation platter.
  • Drizzle with a little balsamic glaze right before serving.
    3 tablespoon Balsamic glaze

Notes

  • Use fresh, crisp apples.
  • For a different flavor, try using different types of cheese, such as cheddar, brie, or goat cheese.
  • Use high quality prosciutto, or even Jamón serrano.
  • Secure the wraps with toothpicks.
  • Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for later.
