Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 6 cup rice krispies or any crisped rice cereal
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi sweet
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips

Instructions

  • Line an 8 x 8 inch pan with parchment paper, or spray with non stick cooking spray.
PRO TIP: Lining with parchment paper lets you lift the slab of chocolate peanut butter rice krispie treats right out of the pan, easy peasy!
  • Heat granulated white sugar and corn syrup in a large, heavy bottomed sauce pan or dutch oven until it comes to a rolling boil.
1 cup sugar, 1 cup corn syrup
  • Stir in the peanut butter, remove pot from heat and et aside.
    1 cup peanut butter
  • Measure the rice krispies into a large mixing bowl.
    6 cup rice krispies
  • Pour peanut butter mixture over the cereal and mix to combine. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan. Set aside to cool.
  • Melt the chocolate and butterscotch chips in the microwave in a large glass bowl. Heat in 1 minute intervals, then stir, repeating in 30 second intervals until the chips are completely melted.
1 cup chocolate chips, 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • Pour chocolate-butterscotch mixture over the cereal mixture in the baking pan and spread out evenly.
  • Refrigerate pan of chocolate covered peanut butter rice krispies for 1½ to 2 hours or until chocolate hardens.
  • Remove from refrigerator and slice into 9 sections before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use a large saucepan so that you have enough room to stir the ingredients without them overflowing.
  • If you don't have parchment paper, you can grease the baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • Let the treats cool completely before cutting into squares. This will help them hold their shape.
