Italian Seasoning Substitute Recipe

Italian seasoning is popular in so many recipes, from pasta to pizza to soup. This Italian seasoning substitute is easy to make and can be used in any recipe that calls for Italian seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon Oregano dried
  • 4 tablespoon Basil dried
  • 4 tablespoon Parsley dried
  • 2 tablespoon Thyme dried
  • 2 tablespoon Rosemary dried
  • 2 tablespoon Marjoram dried
  • 2 teaspoon Crushed red pepper dried, optional
  • 2 teaspoon Onion flakes dried, optional
  • 2 teaspoon Garlic granules dried, optional

Instructions

  • Measure out the oregano, basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, and marjoram into a bowl. If using the optional ingredients, add them also.
    4 tablespoon Oregano, 4 tablespoon Basil, 4 tablespoon Parsley, 2 tablespoon Thyme, 2 tablespoon Rosemary, 2 tablespoon Marjoram, 2 teaspoon Crushed red pepper, 2 teaspoon Onion flakes, 2 teaspoon Garlic granules
  • Blend well and fill small Mason jars or spice jars.
  • Label each jar with name of spice blend and date.
  • Store in a cool, dark pantry location for 6 months.

Notes

  • This recipe can be doubled or tripled to make a larger batch.
  • You can also add other spices to the mix, such as garlic granules, onion flakes, or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Italian seasoning is a great way to add flavor to grilled meats, vegetables, and seafood.
