Ingredients

Teppanyaki Sauce for Grilling

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon rice wine or Sake`
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoon sesame oil toasted
  • 2 teaspoon ginger fresh, grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic fresh, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water

Beef Teppanyaki

  • 2 lbs ribeye steak or any steak you prefer
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • red pepper flakes to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for the Blackstone
  • 2 onions slivered
  • 10 green onions cut into 2" lengths
  • 6 cloves garlic slivered
  • 1 lb broccoli florets cut florets in half

Instructions

For The Teppanyaki Sauce

  • Combine all the ingredients except for the water and cornstarch in a microwave safe bowl.
    ½ cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoon brown sugar, 3 tablespoon rice wine, 1 tablespoon honey, 2 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon garlic
  • Whisk to combine and microwave for 1 minute. Remove from microwave and whisk again.
  • Dissolve the cornstarch into the water to make a slurry. Whisk into the bowl of sauce. Microwave for 3 minutes, stirring with the whisk halfway through. Use right away as sauce or marinade, or store in the refrigerator.

For Beef Teppanyaki on the Blackstone

  • Season the steaks with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, or marinate in a zipper storage bag with a few tablespoons of the teppanyaki grilling sauce 30 minutes to 12 hours prior to grilling.

  • Slice the onion, cut the green onion into 2" lengths, sliver the garlic, and cut the broccoli florets into smaller pieces.

  • Heat the Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil to the griddle.

  • Add the steaks to the Blackstone with a brushing of the teppanyaki sauce. Plan to sear about 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium rare.
    PRO TIP: For more spice, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the steaks.

  • Add the broccoli florets, onions, and slivered garlic to the griddle to the side of the steaks.
  • Continue to cook both steaks and vegetables until cooked to preferred doneness.
  • Cut each steak down the middle lengthwise, then cut into ¾" strips cross wise.
  • Transfer to plates with portions of the sauteed broccoli and onions, and serve with hot fried or steamed white rice. Serve this steak teppanyaki recipe immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For a more flavor, marinate the steaks in the teppanyaki sauce mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • If you don't have a Blackstone griddle, you can cook the steak and broccoli in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • To make the sauce ahead of time, combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Let the sauce cool completely and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
