Air Fryer Teriyaki salmon is a deliciously simple meal that’s full of flavor. The air fryer creates a slightly crispy teriyaki glazed salmon that's ready in less than 20 minutes! And just in case you don't have an air fryer, or it's too small for a larger family meal, I've included conventional oven baking instructions also!
Make a slurry with the water and cornstarch, then whisk into the saucepan. Increase heat to medium and whisk while it thickens, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
1 teaspoon corn starch, 3 tablespoon water
Whether you use salmon filets or steaks, rinse and pat dry. The skin can stay on, it's easier to remove after cooking. Using a basting brush, cover the tops and sides of the salmon with the cooled teriyaki sauce.

Air Fryer Method - Place the salmon in the air fryer basket. Cook on the Fish mode (or 320 F or 160 C) for 7 minutes.Regular Oven Method - In case you don't have an air fryer, or you need to cook more than 4 pieces of salmon, consider the oven to cook everything at once. You'll need to preheat the oven to 320 to 325 F (160 C) and bake for 7 minutes.
Air Fryer Method - Remove the air fryer basket after 7 minutes cook time. Brush the salmon a second time with the teriyaki sauce. Push the basket back in the air fryer and cook for an additional 3 - 4 minutes.Regular Oven Method - Remove the sheet or pan of salmon after 7 minutes cook time. Notes
Pat Salmon Dry: Before applying the teriyaki sauce, pat your salmon fillets thoroughly dry with paper towels. This helps the sauce adhere better and promotes a crispier exterior.
Don't Overcrowd the Basket: Arrange the salmon in a single layer in your air fryer basket, ensuring there's space around each piece for air circulation. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid steaming the fish.
Monitor Cooking Time: Air fryer cooking times can vary by model and salmon thickness. Start checking for doneness a few minutes before the recommended time to prevent overcooking, which can lead to dry fish. Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork.
Brush with Extra Glaze: For an even richer flavor and a beautiful sheen, brush the cooked salmon with a little extra warmed teriyaki glaze just before serving.
Store Bought Teriyaki Sauce: You can also use a good quality store bought Teriyaki glaze in lieu of making one for an even quicker meal.
Oven Baking Alternative: If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake this salmon in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-18 minutes, or until cooked through, flipping halfway.
