Oven Baked BBQ Chicken Drumsticks are juicy, saucy, and finished with sticky caramelized edges, all without firing up the grill. This easy sheet pan dinner uses simple seasonings and your favorite BBQ sauce for big barbecue flavor from the oven.
Preheat the oven to 400℉ and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper, and set a rack on it.
Mix the olive oil, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and poultry seasoning together in a large bowl. Add the drumsticks and toss to coat evenly. Spread out on the prepared baking sheet.
1 ½ pounds chicken drumsticks, ¼ cup olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon paprika, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and brush the drumsticks with BBQ sauce, then bake for another 7 to 8 minutes.
1 cups BBQ sauce
Using tongs, turn the drumsticks and brush them again with BBQ sauce. Bake an additional 7 to 8 minutes. Use an Instant-Read thermometer in the thickest part of the largest drumstick. If it does not read 165℉, bake for a few more minutes.
Turn on the broiler and position the rack about 6 inches from the broiler coils. Coat the chicken again with the BBQ sauce and set under the broiler for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, or until the BBQ sauce is caramelized on the edges of the chicken.
Allow the drumsticks to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
