Our Blueberry Strawberry Banana Smoothie is an energizing, healthy breakfast option! This quick and easy blackberry strawberry banana smoothie recipe is sure to kick-start your day.
Start by washing your berries and removing any stems. Put them in a colander so you can shake excess water off. Don't soak the berries in a bowl of water though, as they will suck and absorb water. NOTE: You can also use frozen berries!
Peel the banana, slice into chunks, and add to the blender. Add the blueberries to the blender. Add the ice cubes if you want a thicker smoothie.
1 medium banana, 1 cup blueberries, 1 cup Ice Cubes
Add the strawberries on top of the blueberries. The blueberries are the smallest so they will get down into the blades and air crannies. During the blending, they will pull down the larger strawberries into the vortex for a uniform blend.
1 cup strawberries
Add the yogurt (or milk) to the ingredients in the blender. Place the cap back on and start with slow, building up speed until you have a velvety smoothie.
1½ cup yogurt
Pour into two glasses and garnish with a strawberry, sprig of mint, or a sprinkle of granola! Serve immediately.
2 strawberries
Notes
Consider "Stacking" Ingredients: For optimal blending, especially in less powerful blenders, place liquids at the bottom, followed by soft fruits (like fresh banana), then frozen fruits, and finally any leafy greens or seeds on top. This helps create a vortex for smoother blending.
Blend Frozen First (or with Liquid): For the smoothest consistency and to prevent your blender from getting stuck, either use mostly frozen berries and blend them with the liquid first, or add the liquid and banana, blend, then gradually add the frozen fruit.
Adjust Sweetness Naturally: The ripeness of your banana and berries impacts sweetness. Taste your smoothie before adding any extra sweetener. If needed, a small drizzle of honey or maple syrup can enhance the flavors.
Don't Over-Blend: Blend just until smooth. Over-blending can warm up the smoothie and make it less frosty.
