Our Fresh Peach Dump Cake brings together sweet, juicy peaches with a simple cake topping for a summer classic. With just 4 ingredients, this easy dessert comes together in minutes!
Wash and rub the peach fuzz off each peach. Slice in half and remove the stone pit. Slice the peaches into slices of chunks and spread them out in either a 9×13 baking dish, or a 4 quart crockpot.
2 lbs peaches
Sprinkle the sugar over the peaches evenly. Don’t stir.
1 cup sugar
Next, sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the sugar. Don’t stir.
1 box yellow cake mix
Lay the slices of butter evenly over the cake mix in the baking dish or crockpot.
1 cube butter
Gently drizzle the water evenly over the top off all the layers in the baking dish or crockpot.
2 cup water
OVEN: Place the 9×13 baking dish in a prepared 350°F (175°C) oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown on the top.
CROCKPOT: If using the crockpot, set the mode to HIGH and cook for 2 hours.
Remove from oven (or pull the crock out of the crockpot) and let this easy peach dump cake cool for 15 minutes to set up a little before scooping out to serve.
Notes
Don't Stir: The key to a perfect dump cake is to not mix the layers once they are in the pan. This allows the butter to melt down through the cake mix, creating that distinct crumbly topping.
Even Butter Coverage: For the best results, ensure the butter is evenly distributed over the dry cake mix. You can thinly slice cold butter, grate it, or cut it into small cubes and scatter them across the top.
Fresh or Frozen Peaches Work: While the recipe uses fresh peaches, frozen sliced peaches are a great substitute. There's no need to thaw them; simply spread them in the baking dish from frozen.
Watch for Golden Brown: Keep an eye on your oven! The cake is done when the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is visibly bubbly around the edges.
Serve Warm with Toppings: This dump cake is especially good when served warm. Consider adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for an extra touch.
