Homemade Granola Ingredients
Use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best results. Quick-cooking oats will become too soft and mushy. For the longest shelf life, use coconut oil instead of regular vegetable oil.
This crunchy granola recipe is simple to make, and produces a granola that is perfectly crunchy, sweet, and tasty.
- Oats - Regular or thick rolled oats.
- Walnuts - Chopped.
- Pumpkin seeds
- Cinnamon - Ground. You can also use our Apple Pie Spice blend recipe.

How to Make Homemade Granola With Cinnamon
You can easily double, triple, or even quadruple this homemade granola recipe. I do! Store in glass mason jars in the freezer for a longer shelf life. I also enjoy making granola and giving it to friends and family.
Start With The Oats - Regular Thick Rolled Oats
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, or spray with non stick cooking spray.
- Measure the rolled oats into a shallow mixing bowl. Bob's Red Mill has 'thick' rolled oats, which are my favorite for making granola. Don't use instant or quick oats though, they are too thin and fine.
PRO TIP: You can make this a gluten-free granola if you use certified gluten-free oats also.
Add The Nuts And Seeds
- Measure and add the pumpkin seeds and the chopped walnuts.
PRO TIP: You can use other nuts and seeds as well, such as almonds, sunflower seeds, or pecans in this cinnamon granola recipe.
Blend The Honey and Coconut Oil
- Stir the warmed honey and melted coconut oil in a jar or bowl.
- Pour the mixture over the bowl of rolled oats, pumpkin seeds, and chopped walnuts. Mix well to coat everything.
Bake The Granola
- Spread the cinnamon granola mixture over the parchment covered baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. The granola will crisp up as it cools. When cooled, transfer to storage jars.
Serving Suggestions
This crunchy homemade granola can be enjoyed on its own with milk as a snack or breakfast. Additionally, you will love this granola as a topping for ice cream, or on top of yogurt with some fruit added.
While cinnamon granola is a popular year-round, the warm and spicy flavor of cinnamon is perfect for cooler weather in the fall.
