    Substitutions

No unsweetened cocoa powder? No problem! You can substitute the unsweetened cocoa powder with two instant hot chocolate packets, any brand.

    Variations

Try a variation with your hot cocoa dip! Here are a few suggestions.

    • Peppermint Hot Cocoa Dip - Add peppermint extract and crushed candy cane for a minty flavor.
    • Mexican Hot Cocoa Dip - Add a little cinnamon and a pinch of cayenne for a Mexican Hot Chocolate flavor. See our Mexican Spiced Hot Chocolate recipe to drink also!
    • Hot Cocoa Cheesecake Dip - Add 4oz of softened cream cheese to the marshmallow fluff and Cool Whip mixture. Then add the cocoa, for a hot cocoa cheesecake dip. You may just want to serve it as a mousse!

    Set up a Cookie Bar

Set up a table with a variety of cookies the would 'benefit' from being dipped into your delicious hot cocoa dip! Add some bowls of garnishes such as chocolate chips, strawberries, marshmallows, pretzels, and even seasonal baking sprinkles.

    Equipment

You will want an electric hand mixer or a good strong arm and a whisk.

    Storage

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

    Tips for Success

    • Do not use fresh whipped cream, it will deflate and make your dip runny. Even stabilized, it will end up making your dip runny. Cool Whip will not.
    • If you don't want to use whipped dessert topping, use cream cheese instead.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this hot cocoa dip ahead of time?

Yes you can! This hot cocoa dip will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 2 days prior to your party event. Store in an airtight container.
