How to Make 3 Minute Fudge

Making fudge doesn't have to be a long, drawn-out process. In fact, this 3 minute, 3 ingredient fudge is incredibly easy to make and comes out perfect every time.

Melt the Chocolate

  1. Prepare a 9" x 9" pan with non stick cooking spray, then line with parchment paper. Set the pan aside until ready.

  1. Place the sweetened condensed milk and the semi sweet chocolate chips into a microwave safe mixing bowl.
  2. Microwave on high for one minute and stir well.

  1. Return to the microwave and continue to heat with 15 second intervals.
  2. Stir after each interval until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

Add Butter & Beat

  1. You will add cubed butter and then beat it into this 3 ingredient fudge. This smooths out the texture, prevents grainy texture, and helps it set up properly.

  1. Smooth the fudge out with a spatula and let cool in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours before slicing.

Slice the Fudge

  1. Once your fudge is cold, take the pan out of the refrigerator. Lift up with the parchment paper to remove from the pan. Lay the slab of fudge on the counter or a cutting board.

  2. Cut the fudge into square with a sharp knife. I find that after a cut or two it is best to wash the knife off to continue to get clean slices. Let the squares sit out on a platter so that the surfaces dry up and the fudge firms up completely.

Serving Suggestions

Fudge makes the best gift to give to friends and loved ones. Once is has air dried a few hours, stack it in small tins, jars, or little paper boxes.

Substitutions

You can use margarine instead of butter, and you can add vanilla or any other flavoring extract. Start with ½ teaspoon of any. Any brand of chocolate chips will work also.

Variations

Time to get creative! Here are a few fabulous ideas for fudge flavors!

  • Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge - Using two bowls, divide the sweetened condensed milk over 12 oz of Peanut Butter chips in one and 12 oz Semi Sweet chips in the other. Follow the recipe, then swirl the two half batches when spreading into the prepared pan.

  • Amaretto Fudge 3 Minute Fudge - Use Vanilla or white chocolate baking chips. Add 1 teaspoon of Almond flavoring to the mixture when melting.
  • Chocolate Mint 3 Minute Fudge - Use Milk Chocolate baking chips and add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract when melting the chocolate mixture.

Equipment

You probably already have all the equipment you need to make this simple fudge. But, if not, here's a list that will help you make perfect fudge. This easy, 3 minute fudge is so much less fussy than stove top fudge.

  • 9 x 9 Baking Pan
  • Parchment paper roll
  • Electric Handmixer

Storage

Store fudge in plastic tubs or cookie tins, with parchment paper to separate the layers of fudge. Your fudge will stay fresh and moist if it is stored in air tight containers.

Tips for Success

  • Use Salted Butter for the best flavor. That tiny bit of salt accentuates the flavor of the chocolate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I freeze fudge for later?

Yes, place in a plastic tub in layers separated with parchment paper. Seal with the lid and freeze up to 6 months. Defrost first in the refrigerator to prevent moisture condensation forming during the defrost.

Food Safety

  • Do not use the same utensils on cooked food, that previously touched raw meat
  • Wash hands after touching raw meat
  • Don't leave food sitting out at room temperature for extended periods
  • Never leave cooking food unattended
  • Use oils with high smoking point to avoid harmful compounds
  • Always have good ventilation when using a gas stove
