    Ingredients

You won't need any additional oils, just a frozen package of sweet potato fries. If you get the thicker variety, or thick waffle cut sweet potato fries, you'll add an extra minute or two for cook time.

I like cinnamon or French fry seasoning on my sweet potatoes, but many use just a seasoned or plain salt.

    • Frozen Sweet Potato Fries - Regular cut, spiral cut, waffle cut, you decide.
    • Salt - Regular or seasoned salt for after your fries and hot and crisp.
    • Cinnamon - Optional, but if you haven't tried a sprinkle of cinnamon on your sweet potato fries, or baked sweet potato, you are missing out!
    • Your Favorite Dipping Sauce - Catsup, Honey, BBQ Sauce, and more suggestions below!

How to Make Air Fryer frozen Sweet Potato Fries

Knowing air fryer temperature, and time to air fry frozen sweet potato fries is essential to getting perfect results. Unfortunately, most frozen prepared foods only have conventional oven and microwave instructions. This air fryer frozen sweet potato fries 'recipe' is more of a visual guide to help you get perfect results, without the trial and error of bungled batches.

Air Fry Sweet Potato Fries Frozen

    1. Spread the frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer basket. You don't have to keep them in a single layer, but do make sure that there is plenty of air flow between the fries.

PRO TIP: I have found about three fries deep (1"), with minimal overlap works really well. Just don't overfill the basket.

    Set Temperature and Time

    1. Set the air fryer temperature to 400F, and the timer for 10 minutes.

    2. Pull the air fryer basket out and shake to mix them up, or use some tongs to mix them up.

    3. Return the air fryer basket and set the time for another 8 minutes, checking at 6 minutes for the crispy doneness you prefer. Remove with tongs, a spatula, season with salt, and and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

PRO TIP: Air fryer times can vary widely depending on the model you use. Check your air fryer sweet potato fries a few minutes early the first time you air fry them.

Making Sweet Potato Fries with Fresh Sweet Potatoes

You can make air fryer sweet potato fries with fresh sweet potatoes also! Just peel the sweet potatoes with a vegetable peeler. Then cut into French fry strips. Place in a bowl and toss with a tablespoon of olive oil and ½ teaspoon of salt. Spread out in a thin layer in the air fryer. Set the temperature to 380F and timer for 22 minutes, turning half way through.

    Equipment

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Below are some of my favorite pieces of equipment that I use when making these air fryer frozen sweet potato fries.

    • Nuwave Brio Air Fryer - Rotisserie - Grill - This 15 quart countertop Smart Oven has three slide in trays, that all can be used at the same time. You can air fry rotisserie chickens, an SO mush more!
    • Nuwave Air Fryer 15 quart - This large family size basket air fryer has room to air fry enough for a large family!
    • Gourmia Digital Air Fryer 6 quart - This basket style air fryer will handle four frozen waffles in the air fryer.
    • Nuwave Air Fryer 3 quart - This compact basket air fryer is perfect for singles or a small family of 2 or 3. You can air fry two frozen waffles in 4 minutes.
    • Oil Sprayer - This is a perfect sprayer for spritzing a light coating of oil on vegetables, meats, and other prepared frozen foods before air frying. The tiny amount of oil ensures you get as amazing results as deep frying and roasting, with a fraction of the calories and splatter!

    Storage and Reheating

Store any leftover sweet potato fries in a covered container in your refrigerator.

You can reheat them in the air fryer for later simply by heating them at 350F for about 5 minutes.

    Tips for Success

    • Don't overfill the air fryer basket.
    • Shake fries ½ way through the cooking time.
    • You don't need any additional oil.
    • Don't use non stick cooking spray inside your air fryer basket, as it is damaging to your air fryer.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to preheat your air fryer?

No, not really. The forced hot convection air heats up the air fryer compartment incredibly fast. The difference in preheating and not preheating is negligible.

Why won t my sweet potato fries get crispy in the air fryer?

If your air fryer fries are soggy, it is likely because you over-crowded them in the basket. For the best air fry frozen sweet potato fries with minimal overlap in the air fryer basket so that the air has room to circulate.

Are frozen sweet potato fries pre cooked?

Yes! Frozen sweet potato fries are pre-fried and then frozen.

How do you season sweet potato fries?

After air frying frozen sweet potato fries, season air with salt as well as any additional seasonings such as a sprinkle of cinnamon, garlic powder, onion powder, creole seasoning or chili lime seasoning.

Are frozen sweet potato fries in air fryer healthy?

Sweet potatoes in general are VERY healthy. If you are going to have fried foods, than air frying is the most healthy manner to prepare them, as there is the least amount of oil used, making them less healthy than baked sweet potatoes, but much, much healthier than deep fried sweet potato fries.

    Food Safety

    • Do not use the same utensils on cooked food, that previously touched raw meat
    • Wash hands after touching raw meat
    • Don't leave food sitting out at room temperature for extended periods
    • Never leave cooking food unattended
    • Use oils with high smoking point to avoid harmful compounds
    • Always have good ventilation when using a gas stove
