Why You Will Love This Recipe

When you air fry frozen French toast sticks you get much better results than using a conventional oven. No more soggy, hard, or burnt French toast sticks - air fryer frozen French toast sticks come out crispy outside and fluffy inside, every time!

Cleanup is easy and the air fryer will cook the French toast sticks in less than 7 minutes. Once you try making frozen French toast in the air fryer, you’ll never go back to using a toaster!

Why Is It Called 'French' Toast?

French toast is not really French at all. Americans gave the name "French Toast" to this dish because French immigrants to America made it popular. In fact, French toast appeared in England long before it did in France. In France, French Toast is known as "Pain Perdu" and it was a way to utilize old, stale bread.

With warm maple syrup to dip your air fryer French toast sticks in, you need little else. If you want to get a little fancier, than a light dusting of powdered sugar would be delightful, along with a serving of our Summer Berry Salad, or our Minted Melon Salad and of course, Air Fried Bacon! Equipment

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Below are some of my favorite pieces of equipment that I use when making these air fryer frozen French toast sticks.

    • Nuwave Brio Air Fryer - Rotisserie - Grill - This 15 quart countertop Smart Oven has three slide in trays, that all can be used at the same time. You can air fry rotisserie chickens, an SO mush more!
    • Nuwave Air Fryer 15 quart - This large family size basket air fryer has room to air fry enough for a large family!
    • Gourmia Digital Air Fryer 6 quart - This basket style air fryer will handle four frozen waffles in the air fryer.
    • Nuwave Air Fryer 3 quart - This compact basket air fryer is perfect for singles or a small family of 2 or 3. You can air fry two frozen waffles in 4 minutes.
    • Oil Sprayer - This is a perfect sprayer for spritzing a light coating of oil on vegetables, meats, and other prepared frozen foods before air frying. The tiny amount of oil ensures you get as amazing results as deep frying and roasting, with a fraction of the calories and splatter!

    Storage

Only air fry as many frozen French toast sticks as you need at a time, because they really are best when fresh made. Keep the frozen uncooked one in your freezer, and just take out what you need.

    Tips for Success

    • Make sure you don’t overcrowd the basket as this may prevent he French toast sticks from cooking properly.
    • Warm the maple syrup up ahead of time, so it's ready for dipping as soon as as your air fryer frozen French toast are hot and toasty!
    • For Eggo brand slices of French toast, using a pizza roller makes perfect sticks!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to thaw my French toast sticks before cooking them?

No, you don't need to defrost or thaw your frozen French toast sticks. Air fry frozen French toast sticks.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

Not really. The convection heat that circulates in an air fryer is so incredibly rapid, especially in the basket air fryers, that preheating has a negligible impact on cooking time.

Should I use some cooking spray in my air fryer?

No, this is not necessary, pressurized non stick spray has propellant in it, and it can degrade the non stick coating of your air fryer basket. You can use a Oil Sprayer with olive oil or MCT coconut oil, if really needed.

Why do you recommend 370F and not 400F?

Because you need the full 5 to 7 minutes of cooking/baking time in the air fryer. This ensures the inside of the frozen French toast sticks is also hot and yummy, not just the outside. It also ensures you don't have over browned outsides. Lower and slower gives a better French toast stick.

    Food Safety

    • Do not use the same utensils on cooked food, that previously touched raw meat
    • Wash hands after touching raw meat
    • Don't leave food sitting out at room temperature for extended periods
    • Never leave cooking food unattended
    • Use oils with high smoking point to avoid harmful compounds
    • Always have good ventilation when using a gas stove

    See more guidelines at USDA.gov.
