How to Make Chocolate Covered Banana Pops
These banana pops can be eaten immediately, or you can freeze them as a natural fruit popsicle for a hot summer treat.
Prepare The Bananas
When buying the bananas, look for long bananas that you can cut into two pieces for two 4" banana pops. Medium yellow bananas,or with a slight hint of green, will give the best results.
- Heavily spotted bananas can be too soft to stay on the lollipop or popsicle sticks.
- Prepare the bananas by peeling them and cutting them in half.
- Insert lollipop or wood sticks into the bottoms of each half banana.
Prepare The Chocolate Dip
- Place the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in one 1 minute burst, and then several 30 second bursts until partially melted.
- Add the coconut oil to the partially melted chocolate chips.
- Stir well until the coconut oil has melted and chocolate thinned.
Dip Bananas In Chocolate
- Dip each skewered banana half into the melted chocolate and set aside on parchment paper covered cookie tray.
- Sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or granola.
Fresh or Frozen
- Place the cookie tray of chocolate covered banana pops in the freezer for 2 hours before serving, or if you prefer, each them unfrozen!
Serving Suggestions
These banana pops can be served immediately after they are made. However, they are also delicious if you freeze them for later.
To freeze them, simply place them in an airtight container and freeze for up to 2 weeks. When you are ready to serve them, thaw them in the refrigerator for a few hours.
