    Substitutions

What chocolate chips are amazing because they let you really taste the green tea cookies. However, you can substitute white chocolate chips for regular milk chocolate or semi sweet chocolate chips also!

    Equipment

Here are some of the equipment that I used to make these cookies. If I were doubling or tripling the recipe (totally doable!) I would use my KitchenAid stand mixer.

    • Hand Mixer
    • Large Rimmed Cookie sheet with cooling racks
    • Matcha Green Tea Powder

    Storage

Store any left over cookies in a sealed bag or cookie jar. You can also freeze them, cooked and uncooked!

    Tips for Success

    • Don't add more than the 4 tablespoons of powdered Matcha Green tea to this recipe. Since it is a powder, it absorbs a lot of moisture. More green tea can make the cookie dough crumbly.
    • Refrigerating the cookie dough produces a better cookie. It keeps the spread contained when the butter is firmed back up.
    • Be careful not to over bake, as the Matcha Green Tea powder over browns easily.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I make these as bar cookies, all in one pan?

Yes, just press the cookie dough out into a 9 x 13" brownie or cake pan. Bake at 350 F, for 20 to 25 minutes. Check at 20 minutes.

    Food safety

    • Do not use the same utensils on cooked food, that previously touched raw meat
    • Wash hands after touching raw meat
    • Don't leave food sitting out at room temperature for extended periods
    • Never leave cooking food unattended
    • Use oils with high smoking point to avoid harmful compounds
    • Always have good ventilation when using a gas stove

    See more guidelines at USDA.gov.
