How to Make These Matcha White Chocolate Cookies
Matcha white chocolate cookies are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. You can add different flavors of extract, such as almond or vanilla, or you can add different types of chocolate chips, such as dark chocolate or milk chocolate.
Cream The Butter and Sugar
- Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until fluffy.
- Add the egg and blend with the hand mixer until mixed in well.
Mix The Dry Ingredients
- In a separate mixing bowl, blend the flour, Matcha tea powder, and other dry ingredients. Mix well.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet. Blend well. Stir in the white chocolate chips and chill for 45 min.
Shape And Bake The Cookies
- Shape the cookies into ten equal sized balls and place 5 on each cookie baking tray. Press extra chip on top if desired.
- Bake for 15 minutes, checking at about 13 minutes. Remove from oven, let sit 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
Tips for Success
- Don't add more than the 4 tablespoons of powdered Matcha Green tea to this recipe. Since it is a powder, it absorbs a lot of moisture. More green tea can make the cookie dough crumbly.

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350° F. Line two rimmed cookie sheet with either silpat mats or parchment paper. Set aside.
- Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and mix well.½ cup Butter, ¾ cup Granulated Sugar, 1 large Egg
- In a separate bowl, blend the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and the powdered matcha green tea. Mix it well so the green tea powder is evenly distributed.1½ cups Flour, ½ teaspoon Baking Powder, ½ teaspoon Baking Soda, ½ teaspoon Salt, 4 tablespoon Matcha Green Tea Powder
- Mix the dry ingredients into the the wet ingredients in two or three portions, mixing and scraping the sides after each addition. After mixed, add the white chocolate chips and stir them in.1 cup White Chocolate Chips
- Scoop cookie dough up and make then equal balls and lay on the cookie sheet with about 3" space between. Put five on each cookie sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove and let sit for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Notes
- Be careful to not over bake these cookies. The match green tea powder can over brown easily.
- You can take the cookie sheet out of the oven at about 9 minutes and add more white chocolate chips on top for a super chip look. Return to the oven to finish baking.
- If you want perfectly round cookies, remove the tray at 9 minutes and use a large biscuit cutter, glass, or cutter that fits around the cookies. Gently move it around so it forces the cookies to keep a round shape. Return to the oven to finish baking.
