How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte

Hot or iced - this comforting pumpkin spice chai will be sure to hit the spot every time! With just 6 ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen & pantry, this recipe is simple yet flavorful.

Make The Pumpkin Spice Milk & the Tea

  1. In a medium saucepan, add the milk, pumpkin puree, sugar. Mix and heat on the stove on medium until it's hot with steam, but not boiling. Remove from heat.

  2. Once off the heat, add the vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice blend. Stir well.

  3. While the milk is heating, brew some strong tea using either loose chai tea or chai tea bags. You can also use a ready made chai tea concentrate like the ones that Tazo sells, and microwave it for about 2 minutes.

Substitutions

If you want to make this a vegan pumpkin chai latte recipe, just substitute the dairy milk for plant based milk. If you prefer using a concentrated chai tea blend, I recommend Tazo.

And, last, Ready Whip sells a plant based, Almond milk based aerosol whip 'cream'!

Variations

I have a few variations for this pumpkin spice chai latte recipe.

  • Pumpkin Dirty Chai Latte - Use only half as much tea, and add a shot of espresso to the mug with the tea.

  • Pumpkin Spice Latte - Make your pumpkin spice latte with just milk and coffee!

Equipment

Here are a few of my favorite coffee and tea making items to make your pumpkin spiced chai latte a success.

  • Electric Tea Kettle
  • Tazo Concentrated Chai Tea
  • Tazo Chai Tea bags
  • Pumpkin Spice blend
  • Vanilla Beans
  • Milk Frother
  • Gerber Pumpkin Puree

Tips for Success

  • A great shortcut is to make your concentrated tea ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator in a Mason jar.
  • I have a FABULOUS tip! I like my pumpkin spiced chai latte smooth, so I Gerber's 4 oz container of finely pureed pumpkin! I know, I know, it's actually baby food! But, it is silky smooth and blends in better into the beverage!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Pumpkin chai latte have coffee in it?

Chai tea lattes don't typically have coffee in them. Instead of coffee, chai tea or a chai concentrate like Tazo's concentrate is used with milk and topping of your choice.

Does chai tea have as much caffeine as a coffee or espresso latte?

Not at all. While chai made with tea does have caffeine, the levels won't be nearly as high as your regular coffee.
