How to cook corn on cob in a pressure cooker
Pressure cooking corn on the cob is very easy, and it actually takes longer to prepare the corn than to cook it! Which is such a time saver compared to waiting for a huge pot of water to boil!
Husk and clean the fresh corn
- You will husk the fresh corn and rinse any silk off of it. Leave the ends on the ears of corn.
- Place the corn cobs in the Instant Pot bowl, or an insert steam basket.
Load the Instant Pot and set the cook time
- Add the water after putting the corn on the cob in the Instant Pot or programmed pressure cooker.
Program the Instant Pot
- Set the time or program on the cooker.
Depressurize and serve
- Do not immediately release pressure. Let sit for 5 minutes first, then carefully move the vent from Pressure to Vent.
- After steam releases, open the lid and remove the corn on the cob. Serve immediately.

Instant Pot Corn on the Cob
Instructions
- Strip the husks off the corn, and use water to wipe any silk threads off. Place the corn ears inside the Instant Pot insert and put the insert inside the Instant Pot.4 large ears of fresh corn
- Add the water and secure the lid. Set the valve to seal/pressure.1 ½ cups water
- Set the cook time to Manual, high pressure, for 2 minutes. Or use the Steam program and set the time for 2 minutes. The Instant Pot will take 5 to 10 minutes to build up pressure, then the cook time will start counting down. When finished cooking, it will beep.
- Wait 5 minutes for the Instant Pot to naturally depressurize. After 5 minutes turn the valve to Vent to finish depressurizing quickly. Keep away from the steam as it releases.
- Open the lid when it unlocks and remove the ears of corn on the cob. Serve with butter immediately.
Notes
- Ears of corn can be large, so to cook full size ears you will need a 6 quart or 8 quart Instant Pot.
- If using a smaller Instant Pot, cut the ears of corn in half.
