You will need about 4 to 6 oz of three colors candy wafers for melting. Paramount crystals are helpful, but optional. They are used to help thin out the melted candy and still set up hard. Cocoa butter wafers will also work.

This recipe for Oreo Cookie Truffles can not just be for Monster Cookie Truffles. Use those vibrant green candy wafers with some white wafers and red wafers and make Grinch Oreo Cookie Truffles. Here are a few other color combinations to dip your Oreo cookie truffles in:

    • 4th of July Cookie Truffles - use Red, White, and Blue candy wafers with a 4th of July blend of cookie sprinkles, candy sequins, or sprinkles.

    • Valentines Oreo Cookie Truffles - Use Pink, Red, and White candy wafer to dip the oreo truffles into. Decorate with a Valentines candy sprinkle blend.

    Equipment

    • Candy Melter
    • Candy Eyes get two sizes
    • Paramount Crystals
    • Vibrant Green Candy melts
    • Orange Candy Melts
    • Lavender Candy Melts

    Storage

Store the Monster Cookie Truffles in your refrigerator in a covered container until ready to serve. You can freeze them also, but let them defrost in the refrigerator so they don't condensate and make the black spots on the eyeballs bleed.

    Tips for Success

    • Pulse the Oreo cookies in two smaller sections. Let half of them be coarser than the other half, so your truffles will have some texture.
    • If you don't have Paramount Crystals, you can also use cocoa butter wafers.
    • Only microwave until the candy wafers are partially melted, stirring and retained heat will melt them the rest of the way.
    • If you over microwave the candy melts, they will 'seize' up. Use extra Paramount Crystals or cocoa butter wafers to save them by stirring them into the seized candy mass. Stir well with their retained heat. Do not microwave more!

    Frequently Asked Questions

My candy wafers are stiff and crumbly after microwaving.

This means they got too hot. You might be able to save them by quickly stirring in some Paramount crystals or cocoa butter wafers. Add about 1 tablespoon for a 4 oz portion of seized candy wafers. Stir using the heat from the candy to melt Parmount crystals or cocoa butter wafers. The candy mixture should smooth out with stirring.
