Oreo Monster Truffle Ingredients
You will need about 4 to 6 oz of three colors candy wafers for melting. Paramount crystals are helpful, but optional.
They are used to help thin out the melted candy and still set up hard. Cocoa butter wafers will also work.
- Oreo Cookies - Crush the cookies in a food processor or in a bag with a rolling pin.
- Cream Cheese - Soften the cream cheese to room temperature.
- Candy Melts - Vibrant Green (I call it Grinch Green), Purple, and Orange Candy Melting Wafers. You can find melts at Michael's, Walmart, and Amazon easily.
- Vanilla extract
- Candy eyes - you can find these in the cake and cookie mix area of most grocery stores.
- Paramount Crystals or Cocoa Butter wafers to prevent the candy wafers from seizing and to get a good flow with the melted candy.
- Candy Sprinkles - Or jimmies.

Storage Options
- Store the oreo balls in your refrigerator in a covered container until ready to serve.
- You can freeze them also, but let them defrost in the refrigerator so they don't condensate and make the black spots on the eyeballs bleed.
Tips for Success
- Pulse the Oreo cookies in two smaller sections. Let half of them be coarser than the other half, so your truffles will have some texture.
- If you don't have Paramount Crystals, you can also use cocoa butter wafers.
- Only microwave until the candy wafers are partially melted, stirring and retained heat will melt them the rest of the way.
- If you over microwave the candy melts, they will 'seize' up. Use extra Paramount Crystals or cocoa butter wafers to save them by stirring them into the seized candy mass. Stir well with their retained heat. Do not microwave more!
Frequently Asked Questions
