How to make Halloween Snack Mix
You will need large bowl that will hold all the dry cereal with plenty of room to mix. Also, a smaller microwave safe bowl to melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter (or almond butter) and the butter.
Step 1. Melt the Chocolate Mixture

In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate, peanut butter, and butter on Defrost for 1 minute. Stir, and continue to microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring each time. Stop with there are just small bits of unmelted chocolate.

Pour the melted chocolate, peanut butter, and butter mixture into the large bowl of dry Chex cereal. Toss to coat all the cereal, scraping the sides of the bowl to scoop up chocolate that sinks to the bottom. Be sure to get chocolate on all the cereal.
Full ingredient amounts and preparation instructions are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
Step 2. Add the Powdered Sugar

Your Chex cereal should look like this in the bowl. The chocolate peanut butter mixture will be cooling.

Dump the bowl contents into a large ziplock bag. It may be easier to split the batch into two bags.
Full ingredient amounts and preparation instructions are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
Step 3. Add the Candy Add In's

Add the candy corn, Reese's Pieces and sprinkle mix to make your Chex Mix for Halloween treat bags!

Print and cut out the Halloween bag toppers at the bottom of this post to staple to the top of each snack bag.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, you can make this halloween snack mix up to 3 days ahead of time, as long as you store it in a cool room temperature location. Don't refrigerate it, as it will get all sticky when it comes back to room temp. Just store it in a covered container in a cool pantry, then bag it up for snack bags right before serving.
